PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A horse-drawn carriage will bring Buddy Cianci’s (see-AN’-seez) casket through the streets of Providence and deliver it to the cathedral for his funeral.

The former Providence mayor will be laid to rest on Monday. He died at age 74 last week. He was the city’s longest-serving mayor, but was forced from office twice due to felonies.

Cianci will lie in repose in Providence City Hall on Saturday and Sunday.

His casket will be removed from the building at 8 a.m. Monday and placed on a horse-drawn carriage as Providence police officers and firefighters salute him during his final departure from City Hall.

The carriage will pass by the Providence Performing Arts Center before arriving at the cathedral for a 10 a.m. service presided over by Bishop Thomas Tobin.
