HARSENS ISLAND, Mich. (AP) - A man whose body was pulled from the North Channel of the St. Clair River off Harsens Island has been identified as a missing 68-year-old Canadian.

The St. Clair County sheriff’s office says Thursday that Richard Wainwright was reported missing Tuesday from his London, Ontario, home.

Wainwright’s death is being investigated by Canadian authorities. An autopsy was expected to be performed Thursday afternoon in St. Clair County.

Harsens Island-area residents saw the body floating in a cut off the river about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Harsens Island is northeast of Detroit.

Wainwright’s vehicle was found in the village of Sombra in Ontario.
