FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - State police say the driver of an SUV crossed the center line of a southern New Jersey highway and collided with an oncoming school bus, causing the bus to overturn.

The SUV driver was killed, an elderly aide on the bus was critically injured and four special needs students received minor injuries.

The crash Thursday morning occurred on a two-lane highway in Fairfield Township, about 35 miles south of Philadelphia.

Authorities say the injured students, all from Bridgeton, range in age from 11 to 17.

The SUV driver was identified as 43-year-old Larry Waller of Bridgeton.

Police say the injured bus aide, 82-year-old Vera Cole of Fairfield, was in critical but stable condition Thursday afternoon.
