ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office is investigating after a Rochester man died outside a sports bar over the weekend.

Rochester police said they responded to Gary’s Sports Bar around 1:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of an altercation in the parking lot. James Unfonak was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, where he later died.

Unfonak’s girlfriend said a man outside the bar threw a punch at the 44-year-old Unfonak, who fell and hit his head.

Foster’s Daily Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/1o8zSDB ) the Strafford County Attorney’s Office is also involved in the investigation.

County Attorney Thomas Velardi says authorities would have to prove that a fatal injury occurred and a suspect’s specific action caused the death before any criminal charges are brought.
