NORWICH, N.Y. (AP) - A New York man serving a 25-year-to-life sentence in a state prison for killing his wife has been given additional time behind bars for trying to bribe his way out of an upstate jail.

The Daily Star of Oneonta reports (bit.ly/1Qf1L3e) 40-year-old Ganesh Ramsaran was sentenced to 5 to 15 years Wednesday in Chenango County Court, where he had pleaded guilty to offering a guard $100,000 to help him escape while being held at the county jail.

The former IBM program director is in the maximum-security prison in Auburn for murdering his wife, Jennifer, whose naked, frozen body was found in a rural field three months after she was reported missing in December 2012.

Authorities say he killed the mother of his three children while having an affair with one of her girlfriends.
