HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - A second person has been charged in the killing of an Iraq war veteran.

Authorities announced Thursday that 17-year-old Ahmad Jaquan Johnson has been charged in the slaying of 33-year-old Mike Gilotti, who was shot Jan. 5 in front of his home.

A Jefferson County grand jury last week indicted Johnson and 16-year-old Charleston Wells, each on one count of murder and nine counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle.

An arrest affidavit says Gilotti was heading to the gym shortly before 5 a.m. when he encountered one or more people breaking into his car. It says his wife heard gunshots and then heard a vehicle pulling away from the scene.

Hoover police Capt. Gregg Rector says Wells and Johnson are among several suspects, and they suspect the crime was gang-related.
