LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Dona Ana County authorities have obtained a warrant to arrest a man in the 2014 fatal stabbing in the Las Cruces area.

The Sheriff’s Office says it developed new information that implicated 19-year-old Lawrence Joshua Lucero and that he has been charged in the killing of 17-year-old David Escamilla.

The office says a complaint filed Thursday charges Lucero with second-degree murder and aggravated battery.

The victim died Oct. 19 while being transported to an El Paso, Texas, hospital after being stabbed in both lungs during a fight earlier that night at a house party.

Another man is also charged in the case.
