CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will be shutting down next year, but another organization plans to take on breast cancer fundraising efforts in the state.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1nJNLaF ) that the Komen affiliate announced its decision Wednesday and will continue operations until March 31, 2017.

Spokeswoman Jayne Mockler says no additional Komen-oriented fundraising will happen going forward, but the Wyoming affiliate will still award grants with funds that have already been raised.

Mockler says the affiliate is closing because of differences in the Wyoming and nationwide operations.

Laurie Heath, a former board chairwoman for the Wyoming affiliate, started the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative last November. The initiative will aim to do the same kind of fundraising and grant awards that Komen Wyoming does now.
