LOS ANGELES (AP) - The mother of a toddler found walking alone in South Los Angeles is expected to be reunited with her son, and police are looking to speak with a male baby-sitter who allegedly left the child alone.

A woman spotted the boy wandering near 111th Street and Avalon Boulevard Wednesday and brought him to a police station. Officials say the boy is 2 or 3 years old.

Meanwhile the mother, who left the toddler with the baby-sitter, came home from work, found the child was missing and called police.

Sgt. Val Valenti tells City News Service that the mother will not face charges.

The boy was scheduled to have a medical checkup before the county’s Department of Children and Family Services decides when he will be returned to his mother.

Valenti says the baby-sitter could face charges.
