BEND, Ore. (AP) - Bend-La Pine Schools has grown to be the state’s fifth-largest school district.

The Bulletin reports (https://is.gd/cqRIuk ) that according to 2015-16 enrollment figures released Thursday by the Oregon Department of Education, the district gained 395 students over last year pushing its spot from sixth- to fifth-largest in the state.

Other Central Oregon districts didn’t fare so well. Crook County School District’s enrollment dropped by nearly 10 percent and districts in Redmond, Sisters, Culver and Jefferson County reported only slight changes.

Of Oregon’s 197 school districts, 50 percent saw increases in enrollment over last year, 38 percent saw decreases and 12 percent saw no significant change.
