RIDGWAY, Pa. (AP) - A coroner says autopsy results are pending for a 5-year-old boy found dead in a central Pennsylvania apartment.

Ridgway police Chief Ralph Tettis says emergency responders believe the boy had been dead awhile before he was found by his aunt about 8 a.m. Wednesday. The woman had been taking care of the boy, who may have died sometime after he went to bed the night before.

Elk County Coroner Michelle Muccio says an autopsy has been completed, but results of lab, toxicology and other tests are pending. Until they’re returned, she won’t issue a cause and manner of death.

Authorities aren’t releasing the name of the boy because of his age. They’ve also refused to say whether foul play is suspected.

Ridgway is about 100 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
