ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) - Denver Broncos’ fans in Rock Springs were able to meet the team’s mascot, Thunder, after the horse made a stop on his way to the Super Bowl.

The Rocket Miner reports (https://bit.ly/1R8pTJV) that the white Arabian had been traveling to San Francisco on Sunday for the Feb. 7 game against the Carolina Panthers when snowstorm conditions closed Interstate 80.

Officials from the Denver Broncos organization then reached out to Rock Springs’ Mountainaire Animal Clinic, where Thunder stayed Sunday and Monday night.

The clinic’s office manager, Deniece Tanner, says staff had tried not to publicize Thunder’s stay. But the word eventually got out, and some residents were able to meet the horse and take pictures.

Tanner says Thunder enjoyed all the attention and even posed for the photos.
