NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) - A former University of Massachusetts student has been convicted of raping a woman on the Amherst campus.

Twenty-year-old Patrick Durocher was found guilty Friday by a Hampshire Superior Court jury of rape and assault and battery. He faces sentencing on Feb. 19.

Durocher was acquitted of a kidnapping charge.

The woman testified at the trial that Durocher approached her, grabbed her by the neck and raped her on the ground outside the campus center.

Durocher testified that he met the woman at a party and that the sex was consensual.
