HARLAN, Ky. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the theft of thousands of dollars of diesel fuel, including some believed to have been stolen from a Federal Aviation Administration radar tower in eastern Kentucky.

Kentucky State Police spokesman Shane Jacobs said in a news release Thursday that in two thefts in two weeks, 655 gallons of fuel valued at around $2,300 were stolen from the FAA radar tower on Black Mountain near the Virginia state line. The most recent reported theft from the radar tower was reported Monday.

Police say 475 gallons were also taken from a business in Harlan on Wednesday.

Investigators believe the robberies are connected.

Authorities are asking for members of the public who may have purchased discounted fuel from individuals to contact Kentucky State Police in Harlan.
