MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Minot Air Force Base officials say the facility contributed nearly $600 million to the local economy last year.

The base each year estimates its economic impact. The 2015 figure of $597.2 million was up more than 3 percent from the previous year, despite a drop in personnel and the lowest spending on construction in five years.

The annual report takes into account base payroll, expenditures and indirect jobs created.

The northern North Dakota base has about 12,000 personnel overseeing B-52 bombers and Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles.
