LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Hank Hughes is out as Nebraska’s defensive line coach.

Cornhuskers coach Mike Riley announced in a statement Friday that Hughes wouldn’t return. Riley thanked Hughes for his hard work and contributions. Riley, who’s entering his second year at Nebraska, said he would look for “a great coach, teacher and recruiter to enhance our defense.”

Before joining Riley at Nebraska, Hughes was co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Cincinnati. Hughes has been in coaching 37 years, 28 of those as a defensive line coach.
