PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Rain that has been falling over parts of Pennsylvania has turned to snow, slowing the morning commute and causing some schools to delay opening.

The transition from rain to snow is making it difficult for road crews to treat surfaces and motorists are facing slushy and slippery spots. Drivers are urged to slow down.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Friday for Philadelphia, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Bucks counties.

Forecasters say most of the snowfall is expected to accumulate through 9 a.m. They say it will taper off from west to east between 7 a.m. to the west of Interstate 95 and 10 a.m. closer to the New Jersey Turnpike.
