DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (AP) - The Denham Springs Marshal’s Office is offering an amnesty program to people with outstanding warrants.

WBRZ-TV (https://bit.ly/20drFtq ) reports people in southwest Livingston Parish can settle their warrants for $35.

Marshal Jerry Denton says the program is an opportunity for people to get their business cleared up in a cost-saving way.

The marshal’s office has thousands of warrants that take up storage. The news agency reports some date back to 1968.

Denton says the office has cleared between 500 and 700 warrants each year since it started the program in 2012.

The program will run until May 15.
