NEW YORK (AP) - A woman who was walking her dog when she was struck by a speeding wrong-way driver is hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Dramatic surveillance footage shows the SUV flying through an intersection in Brooklyn on Thursday, clipping another car and then sweeping the woman out of sight.

The 52-year-old victim had just stepped into the intersection with her dog, who didn’t survive.

WCBS-TV (https://cbsloc.al/1VU9acj ) says the wrong-way driver was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle and being chased by police.

Witnesses say it was miraculous that the victim was alert and talking following the incident. She was taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries.

Charges against the SUV driver were pending. Police say he drove two blocks the wrong way before the crash.
