COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Hundreds of runners, walkers and kids are pounding the streets of Columbia in an effort to benefit the military support organization USO.

The law firm McAngus Goudelock & Courie is sponsoring the events on Saturday morning. They include a 15-kilometer race and relay, a 5-kilometer run and walk, and a half-mile kids’ run. The adults’ race begins at 8 a.m.

At the conclusion, a family-friendly party is being held at the First Citizens Courtyard on the corner of Main and Lady.

The USO manages a reception area for service members arriving or departing the Columbia airport. They also maintain a center for troops at the Camp McCrady Training Center on Fort Jackson.

The organization is celebrating its 75th anniversary this month.
