DENVER (AP) - High-risk inmates leaving the Denver jail after their release are being given heroin antidotes by the Denver Sheriff Department.

The new policy was announced because addicted inmates who were given prescriptions after being released were not using them.

The Denver Post reports (https://tinyurl.com/zkj86rj ) inmates are being trained on how to use the antidote nasal spray before they are released. About 60 inmates were put on the program in December.
