NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - The city of New Haven is marking the Chinese New Year with a series of events.

The Lunarfest event begins Saturday morning with a lion dance on Whitney Avenue.

The New Haven Museum, the Council on East Asian Studies at Yale and the Yale-China Association will be participating.

Activities happening across the city include children’s arts and crafts, calligraphy, dance lessons and language classes.

The one-day festival is free but families are asked to register ahead of time.
