PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire state police say a Portsmouth sanitation worker sustained life-threatening injuries when the driver of a car lost controlled and pinned him between both vehicles.

Authorities say 45-year-old James Murray of Rye was behind the city’s sanitation truck collecting trash when a Ford Fusion driven by 24-year-old Michael Toner of Rye struck him and the sanitation truck at about 3:10 p.m. Friday on Lang road.

Toner and the sanitation truck’s driver - 59-year-old Alan Cade of Madbury - were not injured.

Members of the state police collision analysis and reconstruction unit are continuing to investigate. No charges have been filed.
