DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Des Moines police are still searching for a suspect in the stabbing of a man during a robbery.

The Des Moines Register reports (https://dmreg.co/1Q229rN ) that a 33-year-old man reported to police that he had been stabbed by a stranger early Wednesday morning while walking on Des Moines Street. The victim drove himself to a hospital.

Police say the victim told officers he was approached by a man who demanded his wallet. When the victim refused, the suspect attacked him with a long, serrated kitchen knife.

The victim told police the suspect slashed his jacket, then tried to stab him in the chest. The victim says he managed to push the suspect to the ground and kick him in the head before running off.
