LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police said two people who were fleeing a gunman were killed when their speeding vehicle crashed into an unoccupied home in Los Angeles.

Sgt. Frank Preciado said an SUV pulled up to the victims’ white sedan about 11 a.m. Sunday and a gunman got out of the vehicle and shot into the car.

The Los Angeles Times reports (lat.ms/1UWIbN5) the driver of the SUV fled. The driver of the sedan sped away before slamming into the house, where it ended upside down on the porch.

Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said a male occupant was taken to the hospital, where he died. A woman trapped in the vehicle died in the wreckage.

A third person who was pulled from the car suffered minor injuries.

No suspect information was released.
