NEW YORK (AP) - New York City’s Department of Sanitation says it’s preparing for possible snow.

The department has issued a “snow alert” starting at 3 a.m. Monday.

The move allows Sanitation to supplement personnel, load salt spreaders, attach plows if necessary and prepare tire chains.

Sanitation says it’s also coordinating with the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Department of Transportation.

The National Weather Service says rain could turn into snow around mid-morning on Monday. It says a couple of inches could accumulate in the city between then and Tuesday night, and the snow could even stretch into Wednesday night.
