BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - Jaylen Franklin scored 18 points and Abilene Christian held off Lamar 71-67 Monday night.

Abilene Christian (11-13, 6-5 Southland Conference) led by six after Franklin’s jumper with 1:26 to go. It turned into a free throw shooting contest from there. Lamar made six in a row, compared to two for Abilene Christian, and the difference was two points with 20 seconds left.

Jalen Little then made four straight from the line for ACU, while Quan Jones’ late 3-point attempt fell short for Lamar.

Little finished with 14 points and was 8 of 10 from the line. Franklin was 7 of 14 from the field. The Wildcats shot nearly 47 percent.

Lamar (10-14, 2-10) was led by Nick Garth with 20 points. Jones scored 16 and Josh Nzeakor added 14 points. The Cardinals were 1 of 9 from beyond the arc.

The teams combined for 52 fouls and 68 free-throw attempts.
