CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Wyoming man has been sentenced to two decades in prison for stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend 13 times.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1PwHDKe ) that Robert Allen Snyder of Casper was also charged with stalking his ex-girlfriend.

Prosecutor Mike Schafer says the stabbing victim is reminded of the March 8 event every day by the scars on his body.

Snyder and his attorney say Snyder acted in self-defense. Snyder says the other man had a stun gun.

Snyder pleaded guilty to attempted murder as part of a deal with prosecutors.

Natrona County District Judge Daniel Forgey recommended Snyder participate in substance abuse counseling while in prison.
