GARY, Ind. (AP) - Family members of a man from Laredo, Texas, missing in northwestern Indiana for more than a week after his nephew was found fatally stabbed are asking for help in finding him.

The (Munster) Times reports (https://bit.ly/23SUPmu ) 42-year-old Carlos Verduczo has been missing since he and his 26-year-old nephew, Fernando Verduzco of Gary, asked a 26-year-old Bridgeview, Illinois, man for a ride on Jan. 31 to a home to collect a debt.

The Illinois man says when they got to the home he was handcuffed, stabbed and put in his vehicle’s trunk. He says he escaped but was unable to find the other two.

Police found Fernando Verduczo stabbed to death in the back seat of a car about an hour later at the Ivanhoe Nature Preserve in Gary.
