BOSTON (AP) - The price of a gallon of gasoline in Massachusetts has dropped for the ninth consecutive week, making it the cheapest it’s been in seven years.

AAA Northeast says its latest price survey released Monday found self-serve, regular selling for an average of $1.77 per gallon, which is 4 cents lower than last week.

The last time prices were this low was in January 2009.

The Massachusetts price is 40 cents lower than it was a year ago, and 3 cents above the current national average.

AAA found self-serve, regular selling for as low as $1.61 per gallon and as high as $1.94.
