DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - A Dubuque man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a fatal car crash.

The Telegraph Herald (https://bit.ly/1PKtX1L ) reports 26-year-old Alexander Engling entered guilty pleas Monday in Dubuque County District Court to charges of vehicular homicide by reckless driving and drunken driving as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

The crash occurred the afternoon of April 5 in Holy Cross. Engling lost control of his vehicle, which entered a ditch and overturned.

His passenger, 30-year-old John Cook, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies found Engling was intoxicated while driving.

The prosecutor is recommending a 10-year prison sentence for the vehicular homicide charge.

A sentencing hearing was set for April 4.
