CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is accepting applications to participate in the annual Make It Shine statewide cleanup.

This year’s cleanup will be held during the first two weeks of April. The deadline to register is Feb. 28.

The DEP says more than 5,000 West Virginians removed nearly 190 tons of litter during the 2015 cleanup.

The annual event is sponsored by the DEP and the Division of Highways.

Applications can be downloaded from the land section of the DEP website at www.dep.wv.gov .
