SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah woman will appeal her aggravated murder conviction in crime spree that left a sheriff’s deputy dead.

Court records show that 19-year-old Meagan Grunwald filed a notice of appeal Monday. She was found guilty of serving as the getaway driver for her boyfriend during the 2014 chase.

She testified that she was 17 when Jose Angel Garcia-Jauregui forced her to drive at gunpoint as he shot Sgt. Cory Wride and a second officer. Garcia-Jauregui was fatally shot by police after the chase.

Prosecutors, though, say Grunwald loved her much older boyfriend and was a willing accomplice in the violence. She was convicted on 11 charges.

Grunwald is serving up to life in prison, and won’t get her first chance at parole until she’s 45.
