MONTICELLO, Ark. (AP) - Dallas County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 32-year-old woman in connection to the escape of an inmate from the Dallas County jail.

Dallas County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Penny Retford said Monday that Stephanie Smith of Fordyce was arrested Sunday evening and has been charged with aiding and abetting an escape. She is being held at the Ouachita County jail. It is unclear if she has an attorney.

Thirty-eight-year-old Paul Grice was apprehended Monday in the Monticello area. Grice escaped from the Dallas County jail early Sunday morning.

Authorities have not yet released details of his arrest.

Grice was awaiting transfer to the Arkansas Department of Correction after recent convictions on theft and firearms charges. Prison records show he was convicted of second-degree murder in 1990s.
