NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Essex County prosecutors are investigating two separate homicides in Newark.

The first death occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

City officers responding to reports of shots fired in the 100 block of Camden Street found 26-year-old Bruce Turner lying on a sidewalk, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced there a short time later.

The second death was discovered around 2:10 a.m. Friday.

Officers responding to a domestic disturbance call in an apartment in the 100 block of Spruce Street found an unresponsive 36-year-old man who was pronounced dead there a short time later. But a cause of death has not been determined.

The man’s name has not been released.

Both homicides are being investigated by the county’s Major Crimes Task Force.
