LAS VEGAS (AP) - It was largely a peaceful night as Nevada celebrated the New Year.

Las Vegas police arrested eight people celebrating on the Strip, including one for a possible felony offense.

The Clark County Fire Department also responded to about 55 calls in the area for medical and alcohol-related issues, including a man who had a heart attack outside of Harrah’s.

Off the Strip, two other people were arrested in downtown Fremont Street.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue also said there had been 97 calls between the time the ball dropped and 7:30 a.m. Friday. That’s a slight decrease from last year, when the city’s fire department took 110 calls in the initial overnight hours of 2015.

Reno police also had one arrest for a person intoxicated in the road in downtown.
