BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A former detox facility employee has pleaded not guilty to charges he sexually assaulted a woman in a bathroom in Burlington.

Police say 30-year-old Robert Trepanier assaulted the 45-year-old woman after she arrived at the Howard Center’s Act 1 detox facility in July. He was arraigned Thursday.

Court papers say the woman’s blood-alcohol content was 0.203 percent when she was admitted, more than twice the legal limit to drive.

Court papers say she reported the assault to the center’s staff, but Trepanier remained employed for five months after the attack occurred.

The center says Trepanier was fired after it learned of the allegations.

Police say the Winooski resident has been convicted of burglary, unlawful mischief and other offenses.

Trepeniak’s attorney, Bryan Dodge, didn’t immediately return an email seeking comment Friday.
