CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - An 18-year-old woman is accused of identity theft after she was arrested in a DUI case and allegedly gave another name.

Authorities say Laurelei Lou Denton told them she had been drinking on Christmas morning and left the home. Police said she told them she was worried about being arrested and she gave them her friend’s license.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://tinyurl.com/hyed897 ) the unidentified owner of the license went to the police department to report her name had been in the newspaper for a drunken driving arrest on Christmas. She told authorities she had been home all day on Christmas and hadn’t been arrested.
