HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - The Hattiesburg Arts Council is planning a workshop to help Mississippi teachers use creative writing to augment their core curriculum.

The workshop, set for Monday, is called “Writing the Way.” It will be taught by author Richelle Putnam.

The council’s executive director, Rebekah Stark Johnson, tells the Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/1mmKDl5 ) that the council has been involved in helping teachers learn how to use the arts with their students for years.

The Arts Council held a workshop popular with teachers last year. It helped instructors learn how to use the Mississippi Blues Trail to teach language arts and math.
