GREENWOOD, Del. (AP) - Fire officials say 21,000 birds were killed in a chicken house fire in Greenwood.

The blaze was reported about 5:20 p.m. Sunday on Hunters Cove Road, the State Fire Marshal’s Office said in a news release.

Firefighters from three companies battled the blaze. No one was injured.

Damage was estimated at $500,000. The cause of the blaze was an electrical malfunction.
