LOWELL, Mass. (AP) - Police are investigating a large weekend street fight in Lowell after witnesses reported that a man fired two gunshots into the air.

The Lowell Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1OlctF9 ) that police were dispatched to the intersection of Chestnut and Ash streets around 11:25 p.m. Saturday following reports of shots fired.

The fight had already been broken up by the time officers arrived. Capt. Timothy Crowley says officers noticed a trail of blood leading to an apartment complex from a car with New Hampshire license plates and several broken windows.

Police say a 32-year-old man was found inside the apartment complex suffering from lacerations to his hands. Crowley says the man was uncooperative with officers and refused medical attention.

No shell casings or ballistics evidence was found at the scene.
