LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Gwinnett County police say the death of a man believed to have fallen from the second floor of his home has been ruled accidental.

Police Cpl. Michele Pihera said in a news release Monday that the medical examiner’s office has said Jeffrey Williams’ death was an accident.

Police were called to Williams’ home in unincorporated Lawrenceville shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 20. Officers found medical personnel treating the 50-year-old, and there was a large amount of blood on the floor.

Williams was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

Officers say Williams’ son said his father chased him out of an upstairs bedroom, tripped on a chair and fell through the railing of the staircase to the floor of the foyer below.
