LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas State Police is looking for a few good men and women to become state troopers.

Recruiters are looking for qualified applicants for a school for new State Troopers that’s expected to begin on May 8. Graduation of the next class of state troopers is set for September.

Testing to identify a pool of qualified applicants for recruiting positions is underway. Throughout January each troop headquarters will host a recruiting session. Residents who meet the minimum requirements and are interested in possibly becoming a state trooper are encouraged to visit local troopers and see some of the equipment used every day.

The starting salary for Arkansas State Police recruits is $34,500 and is raised to $36,000 when they graduate.
