PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - The body of a Jackson County man has been found, a week after he wrecked his vehicle on Highway 613 and fled the scene.

WLOX-TV (https://bit.ly/1RkLoaR ) reports Sheriff Mike Ezell said the body of 45-year-old Gerald Williamson was found Tuesday more than 400 yards from where the wreck happened.

Ezell says an autopsy will be performed to determine how he died.

Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the accident Jan. 5. Witnesses say the driver ran into the woods before first responders arrived. Ezell says Williamson’s parents reported him missing two days later.

Ezell says investigators with his department and Jackson County Search and Rescue began looking near the wreck and found Williamson’s body in a fenced horse pasture in a wooded area.
