DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - City officials say Davenport will have a new police chief, pending the approval of the Civil Service Commission.

The Quad City Times (https://bit.ly/22Y2Wh6 ) reports that Paul Sikorski, who has been the city’s interim police chief since July, has been promoted to the permanent police chief position. The commission, which handles appointments and promotions, and acts as an appeals board, is expected to make a decision Wednesday morning.

Sikorski has been with the department for 27 years. He was previously appointed as the assistant chief in March and has received over 30 awards and citations during his career.

Former police chief Don Schaeffer retired last July.
