BRIDGETON, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a southern New Jersey gardener is heading to prison in the fatal stabbing of his 85-year-old customer.

Police said Michael Duberson stabbed Eugene Tabinowski Sr. multiple times in his head, face and neck in March 2014 at Tabinowski’s Millville home. Police said Duberson then stole Tabinowski’s vehicle and fled.

Tabinowski died from his injuries at a hospital the next day.

The 41-year-old Millville man pleaded guilty in October to a charge of aggravated manslaughter.

The Daily Journal of Vineland reports ( ) Duberson was sentenced Friday in Bridgeton to 30 years in state prison.

Authorities say Duberson must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he can become eligible for parole.
