ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a 28-year old man gunned down in eastern Pennsylvania over the weekend was charged in a sexual assault case.

Authorities say Chonce Acey was shot in the parking lot of an Allentown grocery store Sunday night and died at a hospital.

The Easton man was charged in January 2014 along with 29-year-old Andre Watley with sexually assaulting another man with a broom handle in 2009. Watley pleaded guilty to aggravated assault last year and was sentenced to six to 20 years in prison.

The case against Acey was never brought to a hearing, though prosecutors said Acey was a witness in that case.

Authorities say there’s no evidence that Sunday’s shooting is related.

Court records show that Acey was also connected to a gang-related 2007 triple homicide.
