TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Prosecutors have dropped a murder charge against a Tulsa man in the presumed death of a businessman who disappeared in 2008.

The Tulsa World (https://bit.ly/1SgpQwc ) reports that the charge against 40-year-old Gregory Jerome Epperson was dismissed Friday, three days before a jury trial was scheduled to begin, pending further investigation.

Thirty-four-year-old Ray Nathaniel Johnson is presumed dead after last reported being seen on Sept. 11, 2008.

Epperson was arrested in July after he turned himself into authorities. He was released from the Tulsa Jail on Friday.

Assistant District Attorney John David Luton said that prosecutors decided they were not ready to proceed to trial due to insufficient evidence.
