SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Police say they are investigating racially charged threats that were left for a Salem family as a potential hate crime.

The Statesman Journal reports (https://goo.gl/pn5XY4 ) that the notes threatened to kill the family and were signed “KKK” with a cross. Copies of the notes have been circulating on social media.

Police Lt. Dave Okada says the threats are a potential hate crime.

An investigation into the notes is ongoing.
