SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A man has been charged with stabbing another man in Springfield earlier this month.

The Springfield News-Leader reports (https://sgfnow.co/1Pp9YkW ) that 32-year-old Jeffrey Brockman is charged with first-degree assault after police say he stabbed his neighbor during an altercation.

Court documents say Brockman was arguing with his neighbors because he believed one of them informed his girlfriend about his possible infidelity. Brockman and his neighbor agreed to meet Jan. 2 for a fist fight.

When the two men met, Brockman stabbed the other man with a sharp object.

The victim was treated at a hospital. Brockman fled the scene but was arrested days later.

Brockman is being held in the Greene County Jail on a $20,000 bond. It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney.
